  • If change were easy, we’d all have healthy bodies, relationships and bank accounts. We would accomplish everything and anything - all of the time!

The 21 days myth

“It takes 21 days to form a new habit.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So what’s the real answer? How long does it take to form a habit? How long does it take a break a bad habit? Is there any science to back this up?

 

 

 

On average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact.

 

From a study done by Phillippa Lally, a health psychology researcher at University College London, where she examined the habits of 96 people over a 12-week period.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So this is the myth, and then we have the science. What if we add evolution of consciousness into this and the use of essential oils?

 

First, it is an intention. Then a behavior. Then a habit. Then a practice. Then a second nature. Then it is simply who you are.

 

Knowing what we know about habits, how long does it take to go from intention - behavior - habit - practice - second nature - who you are?

In other words, how long does it takes for us to really change?

 We know people that change their lives over night.

EGOIC RESISTANCE

 

The most important job your ego has is to keep you ALIVE - but in a change process it can work against us.

Most think that something is wrong when we experience this resistance. We think it is something that needs to be fixed or healed.

Inner resistance from your survival instincts will always be there. And you should expect it to happen - or else there is no real change. 

 

HOW IT MAY LOOK

Lack of motivation - demotivation

Lack of clarity - confusion

Lack of actions - procrastination

Lack of power - excuses

Lack of logic - unrealistic expectations

Lack of structure - forgetfulness

 

 

 

 

 

 

ZONE 1: COMFORT - no change

ZONE 2: DISCOMFORT - want change

ZONE 3: INSPIRATION - inspired to change

ZONE 4: START - commit to change

ZONE 5: MOTIVATION - change is easy

ZONE 6: RESISTANCE - change is hard

ZONE 7: UNKNOWN - change is growth

ZONE 8: TERROR - change is dangerous

ZONE 9: GOAL - change was worth it

 

Why do resistance all of a sudden show up?

 

Your ego thinks that the change is temporary.

 

Motivation Zone: Change is easy because your ego thinks that the change is temporary. So the resistance is not as high in the beginning.

Resistance Zone: Your ego realizes that you are on your way to the Unknown Zone. Your ego is not considering if a change is good or bad, it only sees “this is unknown”.  So it will do whatever it can to stop you from creating a permanent change.

 

 

 

 

 

 

If we don’t understand egoic resistance, we misinterpret it as “there is something wrong” or “this isn’t working for me” or “this must not be my path.”

  • Resistance is good; There is nothing wrong with resistance.
  • The goal is not to not experience resistance, flow is not a sign of change, growth and expansion. 
  • Resistance means that transformation is straight ahead! 
  • If there is NO resistance, you’re NOT evolving, NOT growing, NOT changing your life. 
  • Every time you change your life, and you think you’ve outsmarted your ego, your ego will come up with a NEW resistance strategy to stop you.
  • We are never “immune” to resistance, nor do we “evolve” beyond it - our job is to expect it and to handle it. 
  • If you expect resistance AND know what forms it takes, you can transcend its influence.

 

 

 

 

WHEN IS IT NOT RESISTANCE?

How do we know whether we’re truly on the wrong path, vs. just in resistance?

We don’t want to push ourselves down the wrong path while our intuition is giving us red flags, thinking we’re just in resistance.

SAY HELLO TO THE 22 METHOD

“Once you are actually taking action, you should feel pretty good about twenty minutes into it.”

 

  • When we do COMMITTED actions, resistance wears off.
  • Resistance is mostly present when we are thinking about taking action.
  • Once we are in the middle of DOING, we are in the flow.
  • It takes about 20 minutes to break through the resistance.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This summer I created the 22 method on how to break though egoic resistance:

 

22 seconds

22 minutes

22 hours

22 days

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2 seconds: for INSPIRATION to NEW THINKING.

22 seconds: from NEW THINKING to ACTION.

22 minutes: from ACTION to FLOW - you should feel pretty good about 22 minutes in. 

22 hours: Within 22 hours you should expect some kind of results - positive feedback from the universe. 

22 days: Within 22 days of daily committed actions - the resistance is not there anymore, or that it is reduced to a minimum.

 

 What about the oils?

Balance on your feet makes you more committed.

Blue Tansy on your big toe makes you unstoppable.

Melissa on the rooftop of your mouth makes you see solutions.
